Dr. Colleen Quee Newell has worked as a Vocational Consultant since 1993. She holds a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology [UBC], and a Bachelor of Physical Education [UBC].  She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and Registered Rehabilitation Professional with the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada.


Dr. Quee Newell is well-respected as an expert in the field of vocational assessment, providing comprehensive medical-legal opinions for both Plaintiff and Defence counsel. Her approach is balanced, thorough, detailed, and fair.  She is highly experienced in the assessment and analysis of complex, high-risk cases, and is well-versed in the assessment of individuals presenting with a broad range of physical, cognitive, and psychiatric disabilities, including people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. 


Dr. Quee Newell was first accepted as an expert in Vocational Rehabilitation by the Supreme Court of British Columbia in 1994, and has testified on many occasions since then. She has also been retained by legal counsel from Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and the UK. Over three decades, Dr. Quee Newell has assessed the employment capacity of individuals in relation to motor vehicle collisions, aviation crashes, medical malpractice, personal injury, physical assault, sexual harassment and abuse, law enforcement, foster care, family law, and residential school claims.


As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Dr. Quee Newell provides evidence-based counselling to clients dealing with the psychological consequences of illness and injury. She also provides vocational assessment and counselling to help individuals return to work following illness or injury.  


Dr. Quee Newell also works with individual clients seeking career counselling, including high school and post-secondary students.


In addition to private practice, Dr. Quee Newell is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education at the University of British Columbia. Other teaching experience includes more than a decade as a sessional instructor at UBC, developing course curricula and teaching Career Counselling Theory.


Outside of work, Colleen enjoys time with her family. She has a lifelong passion for sport, fitness, nutrition, and reading. She is also an avid supporter of the Vancouver Whitecaps and Liverpool FC.
